Covered CT opens no-cost health insurance coverage to adults

Friday, the state expanded zero-cost health insurance coverage to include childless adults through the Covered Connecticut program. The program covered parents and child caregivers starting last year, but now any Connecticut adult with qualifying income can enroll in zero-cost health insurance through Access Health CT. The state expects 40,000 people to qualify for the expanded program, targeting people who make too much to qualify for HUSKY but can’t afford health insurance. Income eligibility varies by family size — single adults with incomes up to $22,540/year and adults in families of four with incomes up to $46,374/year now qualify. The program also now offers dental and vision coverage in addition to comprehensive medical and behavioral health care. Access Health CT already provides comprehensive, affordable health insurance to over 100,00 Connecticut residents.
