How CT can ensure everyone gets help for COVID-19

People of color are dying of COVID-19 at higher rates than other Connecticut residents. While researchers work on why that is, the CT Health Foundation has given us four concrete, feasible recommendations to improve access in these trying times. The first is to expand testing to everyone who needs one. The to-do list includes offering rides to testing sites, accommodating people who arrive on foot, offer testing in underserved neighborhoods, and prioritize at-risk people. Other recommendations include maximizing use of Community Health Workers, supporting people who need to isolate, and make sure communications are clear and report more race/ethnicity data. All four have concrete, specific to-do lists for policymakers. We are making progress, but we can always do better.
