According to State Health Compare’s updated data, 18.1% of Connecticut residents had out-of-pocket health costs that were more than 10% of their family income in 2018. That is up from 17.8% the year before while the burden on the rest of the US went down. While Connecticut’s rate is bad, it’s better than the US average of 18.1%. State Health Compare is an excellent resource for advocates, providers, researchers, policymakers, and anyone who tracks health outcomes or social determinants of health. The site now includes 45 measures on a range of topics including health insurance coverage; cost of care; health behaviors; health outcomes; access to and utilization of care; care quality; public health; and social and economic determinants of health.
